COASTAL CRUISES

Sit back and relax as we cruise at a leisurely pace up the coastline exploring its nooks and crannies. We open her up a little bit if everyone is happy to experience the joy of speed on the water!

BESPOKE TRIPS

We can cater for all sorts of bespoke trips for bird watchers, geologists or those wanting to spoil their loved ones with a special gift. The boat can be chartered for £280 per hour. Just contact us to discuss.

DAILY SAILING TIMES

As the harbour is tidal, our schedules vary from month to month, so check out our booking system to see when our trips are running. Usually we have hourly  trips from lunchtime onwards. On gorgeous days we may run later trips so keep in touch with us on facebook or Instagram as well.

The timing of trips is of course dependent on weather and demand. Riptide reserves the right to cancel or alter the times of all rib trips without notice. This can be due to a variety of reasons including, but not limited to, changing weather and sea conditions, technical reasons, crew availability, or lack of minimum passenger numbers.

Boats will only run if there is a minimum of 4 spaces booked.

YOUR SAFETY

Please note that all sailing are dependent upon the weather and the size of the waves!

The boat is a 10m Humber rib. Humbers provide the driest, safest and most stable ride of any comparable craft. Skippers Paul and Graeme were born and brought up in St Abbs and are both skippers of St Abbs lifeboat. They know the coast and its waters like the back of their hands. A safety briefing will be given as you step on board and the skipper will assist you with life jackets and boarding.

about

THE

COASTLINE

Formed by active volcanoes, St Abb's Head is the best known landmark along the magnificent Berwickshire coastline. The sheer cliffs, offshore stacks and narrow gullies provide outstanding scenic beauty and an incredible habitat for wildlife.

Here Guillemots crowd tightly together on the broad ledges and sides of offshore stacks, especially in the area north of the lighthouse. Razorbills cluster in single pairs or small groups. Puffins use crevices in the cliff face to lay a single egg out of sight. Kittiwakes build grass and mud nests on the cliff faces whilst Fulmars nest higher up on grassy ledges or in crevices.

In the water, dolphins and seals patrol the coast and divers take the leap of faith off the back of their dive boats

The cliffs themselves tell stories in stone. With some as old as 450 million years, they lie along the St Abb's Head fault and tell us tales of when a wide ocean separated Scotland and England.

Experience St Abbs as you have never seen it before. Feel the peace and serenity of the waters along the coastline. View the lighthouse as sailors have viewed it since 1862. Get  up close and personal with the North Sea's abundant wildlife. Watch for divers bubbles as they descend beneath the waves. Your Riptide rib ride will be an experience never to forget.
